Generation 10 is making a splash with Winds and Waves!

Generation 10 of Pokémon is on its way with Pokémon Winds and Waves! Coming in 2027, we'll be heading to a region influenced by beautiful islands and seas! More information is forthcoming, but the games look quite nice! The games are Switch 2 exclusives (thank goodness, they need the compute power!) and feature what looks like dense regions filled with Pokémon life, including the ability to go underwater. They also revealed the starter/first-partner Pokémon!

Blipbug, the Larva Pokémon is coming to Pokémon GO!

Details for the 2026 Bug Out event for Pokémon GO have been released. From March 17 to March 23, 2026, the Bug Out 2026 Event will be live. As part of the event, Blipbug (and its evolutions Dottler and Orbeetle) will be released (remember that the Shiny is not releasing).

Surprising to see Legends: Z-A Megas debut for Pokémon GO Tour 2026!

Pokémon GO Tour 2026 is shaping up to be an interesting event! As part of the event, Mega Victreebel and Mega Malamar will be making their debut! On February 20-22, 2026 at the Los Angeles event and Tainan event, ticket holders will get the first chance for Mega Energy on their ticket day. Then, on February 28 and March 1, 2026 they will debut globally.

The Ore Pokémon is just about ready to make its debut!

An upcoming Pokémon GO event has been announced to begin on Tuesday January 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and will end on Sunday February 1 at 8:00 p.m. (local time). This event is focued on Routes and Egg hatching. It will also mark the debut of Glimmet, the Ore Pokémon.

Both Mewtwo Megas for Go Tour: Kalos?

As Go Tour: Kalos comes closer, assets were recently added to the game: Flamigo which will be coming next month with its own event Zeraora which possibly might be the Mythical for this year's Go Fest this Summer; and the big one which is hinted for Go Tour: Kalos: Mega Mewtwo X and Y! Even though the assets for Mega Mewtwo have been added to the game several times over the years, the recent push hints this will be the big Mega Raid Pokémon everyone will want to do!

Remote trading is finally here!

Today, Niantic announced that a new friendship level is being rolled out! You can now become Forever Friends with someone by interacting an additional 90 "points" with a best friend! Mega Lucario Z is the first Z Mega, and they seem a bit different

As part of an official press release, the Pokémon Company has given a bit of extra insight into Z Mega Evolutions. Mega Lucario Z, revealed today, is the first of these Mega evolutions, and it seems there are some subtle differences mechanically to how they work.

You can catch your own Mewtwo now!

You can now head to Mystery Gift in Legends: Z-A to get Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y. This unlocks the special Side Mission: Project M. You'll get a short story that ends with an encounter with Mewtwo, which you can catch.

Time to level up!

Starting Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the rebalanced level system in Pokémon GO will be in place. The game will increase the level cap from level 50 all the way up to level 80. Here are some new details shared by the developers.

The Candy Apple and Apple Hydra Pokémon are making their mobile debut!

The 2025 Harvest Festival is fast approaching in Pokémon GO. This year, the event will run from October 10 until October 16, 2025. The event features the debut of Dipplin and Hydrapple (introduced to Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet's DLC expansions), and will include higher shiny rates of Smoliv and Pumpkaboo.

Announced today, Niantic has revealed the long-awaited news that the player level cap will be increased! Starting on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, players will be able to get all the way up to level 80!

Shiny Wo-Chien is available for free until the end of September!

After successfully defeating 6,078,885 Wo-Chien raids in Scarlet and Violet, the Shiny can now be obtained. You can obtain this Mystery Gift through the in-game system (just head to Mystery Gift then choose "Get via Internet"). You don't need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to get the gift, and it's available until September 30th, 2025. Limit one per account, but you can make as many saves as you want as long as you have a connected Nintendo Account on your profile.

Get the mightiest mark on The Scaly Pokémon!

Starting July 11, 2025 running until July 13th, Kommo-o will be the featured Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet's 7 Star Tera Raid Battle. Kommo-o will have the Fighting Tera Type and when you catch it it'll have the Mightiest Mark.

After their announcement that Legends: Z-A is arriving in October, The Pokémon Company announced on their official X (Twitter) account when to expect the next Pokémon Direct. We now know that we'll be able to play the latest spin-off in October!

Today, the official Pokémon X (Twitter) account announced the release date for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the latest spin-off title. The game is set to launch on October 16, 2025, which is honestly earlier than I expected it to be. The X Post (Tweet) reminds us that this is a dual-console release. You'll be able to purchase an upgrade to the physical and digital versions. The upgrade includes improved graphics and frame rates, which is all we really need from GameFreak.

An animated advertisement for Shiny Rayquaza!

This morning, the Pokémon Company released a neat little video on YouTube to advertise the upcoming Shiny Rayquaza raids in Scarlet and Violet. The raids are confirmed to run from December 20, 2024 through January 5, 2025. It'll be a 5 Star Raid battle and Rayquaza will have the boring Dragon Tera Type. Keep in mind you'll only be able to catch one per save file.

So you're telling me Shiny Rayquaza is on its way?

It looks like as part of the Mythical Pokémon Get Campaign in Japan that some Mythical distributions will be coming out. Additionally, this campaign has confirmed that a Shiny Rayquaza event where it will be appearing in Tera Raid battles is confirmed. The dates are set for December 20th through January 6th globally.

The "coming season" has a few Community Day slots now!

Niantic announced earlier this morning what the dates are for some upcoming Community Days. This includes the yearly wrap up Community Day, two full Community Days, and a Community Day Classic. Niantic announced today that Pokémon GO and Walmart are teaming up. The new partnership will introduce more PokéStops and Gyms at Walmart stores across the United States. Additionally, Niantic is launching physical Pokémon GO Gift Cards available exclusively (at least for now) at Walmart.

That's right, for the September 2024 Community Day, Pokémon GO will celebrate Ponyta! The Fire Horse Pokémon will be joined by it's Galarian counterpart, the Unique Horn Pokémon and spawning in the wild with increased shiny rates. You'll also be able to get one that knows Wild Charge.

Part of the 2024 Pokémon World Championships has included a series of events to get trainers all over the globe excited. The most recent event is Chest Form Gimmighoul joining Tera Raid Battles! You have from Thursday, Aug. 8 (at 5:00 p.m. PDT) until Thursday, Aug. 22 (at 4:59 p.m. PDT). That gives you two whole weeks to shiny hunt this one.

After a long time, the Iron Ball Pokémon is back in the spotlight!

Well, here's some most excellent news. Beldum will be the star of the August 2024 Community Day Classic! On August 18, 2024, Beldum will be all over the place with an increased shiny rate. Beldum's final evolution Metagross is one of my personal favorite Pokémon, so I'm thrilled to see it return. It is also extremely important to note that Meteor Mash Metagross is one of the strongest Iron-types in the game, especially its shadow!

Niantic is bringing back Mega Rayquaza due to previous technical issues

Niantic has confirmed on their blog that Mega Rayquaza will return for another special raid event. The event is slated for Saturday, August 3, 2024, and will appear in three separate hour-long blocks. In June, there were some technical issues that made getting Mega Rayquaza difficult for some folks, so they're holding the special event for everyone in the world!

Time to get Bagon to fly! This little dragon hasn't been featured in a long time!

Niantic has released full details for the upcoming April 2024 Community Day Classic. This time, it will feature Bagon! Bagon's final evolution, Salamence, is a popular psuedo-Legendary Pokémon that also has a Mega Evolution. The last time Bagon was featured for a Community Day was April 2019, so it's nice to see it return!

Weather boost getting some boosts! And lots of Stardust!

Niantic has revealed details for Pokémon GO's Weather Week. The event features extra stardust, Shiny Castform, and a bunch of other boosted spawns of specific species depending on the weather. The most important part of this event is the constant 2x Stardust bonus for catching! The event runs from March 14, 2024 (10am local) to March 18, 2024 (8pm local).

A short little video confirms that Marshadow will join Pokémon GO!

After the datamine of the Pokémon GO Fest 2024 logo, fans noticed that there were some "shadowy wisps" reminiscint of the shape of Marshadow's shadow trail. After a few days of waiting, Niantic released a short promotional video to let us know that Go Fest 2024 was certainly happening. At the end of the video, you can hear Marshadow's cry and see its shadow! So, Marshadow is the Mythical Pokémon that will be featured this year!

Who said Scarlet and Violet events were dead?

The next set of raids for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been revealed to focus on Flutter Mane and Iron Jugulis. These raids will run from January 26, 2024 until January 28, 2024. Historically, these raids have not been shiny locked, so you might be able to join some friends to get some shinies! Just remember that these shiny rates are not boosted at all.

Lots of Pokémon from the Hisui region will be making their debut and more!

The next Season for Pokémon GO was announced this morning. During December through March, we'll be treated to the Timeless Travels season. This season features the Hisui region, with more releases of Pokémon first revealed in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. They're also showing some focus on routes, party play, showcases, and more!

With Scarlet and Violet's embarrassing release, maybe The Pokémon Company should slow down

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were released in November last year to a significant amount of criticism. They were GameFreak's "fourth" title on the Switch, following Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Sword and Shield, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Not to mention the two large DLC expansions to Sword and Shield and the two expansions coming soon for Scarlet and Violet. There are also rumblings of a new Legend's title in development, they're surely working on Generation 10, and we have to consider GameFreak's newest work with Project Bloom.

A new Tera Type? Lots of returning Pokémon? This is exciting!

The teaser shows some glitchy and neon lights, what is going on?

On Twitter (or I guess X? Does anyone like calling it that?) an announcement for the upcoming Pokémon Presents was shown. This announcement indicates that the event will be held on the Pokémon YouTube Channel and will start at 6:00 a.m. on August 8. The announcement confirms that there will be 35 minutes of Pokémon news and updates.

Niantic has announced the Pokémon GO event "A Valorous Hero" which features Candela, the leader of Team Valor. During this event you'll have to focus on powering up and battling Pokémon. Additionally, this event will give us the debut of Shiny Tapu Fini, and Mega Pinsir.

Get the latest Paradox Pokémon again! But only if you didn't before!

It's been a few months since the last time Walking Wake and Iron Leaves were available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Last time, folks that had not yet updated the game were able to catch a Bad Egg, which has since been patched. These raids are only around for a few more weeks, so if you missed it (or caught one of the Bad Eggs) now's your chance! But if you already caught either of them, you won't be able to catch another.

Regidrago is a really cool Pokémon, too bad it isn't that good

Regidrago, The Dragon Orb Pokémon, will make it's Pokémon GO debut on March 11! Unfortunately, it will only be obtainable through Elite Raids which must be completed in person. At least it's a super cool looking Pokémon, but it's no better than other dragons except for its massive stamina stat.

Anyone want a strange egg omelette?

Version 1.2.0 of Scarlet and Violet brought Iron Leaves and Walking Wake through raids. However, there was an oversight that led to some trainers seeing and catching strange eggs which has prohibited them from getting the two new Pokémon.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have released the official patch notes for the yet-to-be-released update to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. This patch was promised to release early this year, and was going to focus on significant bug fixes and improvements to the game. We now have the official patch notes, though they say that they're not quite done with the patch and more will be revealed later. No Scarlet and Violet connectivity just yet, but we're getting closer!

Pokémon HOME will receive some scheduled maintenance on Feb. 1, 2023, so it will not be usable. After maintenance the mobile app will be updated to 2.1.0 which will add a few new features that include a Battle Data display for Scarlet and Violet. This will not add Scarlet and Violet transfer functionality at this time.

Could this be the return of Greninja?

The Pokémon Company has announced the next event 7-Star Tera Raid Battle! However, all we know so far is that it will feature the Poison Tera Type. This is a bit of a deviation from their normal announcements, as previous announcements have included the species of Pokémon right from the get-go. The raids will run from Janurary 27th (00:00 UTC) to January 29th (23:59 UTC) and have a rerun on February 10th to February 12th.

Natural enemies, fairies and dragons, will appear in this event!

The next Pokémon GO event is the Twinkling Fantasy Event. Fairy- and Dragon-type Pokémon are some of the strongest in the entire series, and this event features a good number of them! We'll be getting the debut of Shiny Dedenne as well as Mega Salamence! The event runs for only a week in January, so be sure to get out and fill your collection!

The long wait for Kecleon has finally come to an end!

The Pokémon first introduced in the 3rd Generation games, Ruby and Sapphire, started making their debut in Pokémon GO on October 20, 2017. However, one Pokémon has remained elusive, never appearing in Pokémon GO. After almost five and a half years, Kecleon has finally been released.
