The latest season of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles has officially begun! Season 2 of Series 1 has started and will last for almost an entire month. In this format, every Pokémon that can be found in the Paldea Pokédex is available, with the exception of the legendary and paradox Pokémon.

linkSeason Details

This season lasts from January 5, 2023 at 4:00 UTC until January 31, 2023 at 23:59 UTC. That means you have almost a month to grind through the ranks to get some decent rewards for your efforts.

Normal ranked rules apply, you have a personal 10 minute timer, you get 90 seconds for the team previews, and each turn gets a maximum of 60 seconds. For singles, you can bring a team of three to six Pokémon, while in doubles you can bring a team of four to six Pokémon. All levels will be set to 50, as per usual.

Ranked battles do require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

You can access these battles by going to the Poké Portal (in your normal menu), then Battle Stadium, and then Ranked Battles.

At the end of the season you'll be able to get the follow rewards based on where you end up. Even for the lowest tiers, you can get the rewards if you finish one match with a win or loss during the season.

linkOther Notes

I personally think the rewards could be better to incentivize more people to play Ranked Pokémon battles. Nearly every item available can be purchased easily and money isn't super difficult to grind for in the games. Either way, competitive singles and double battles are extremely fun. Keep an eye out for some guides from us in the future on how you can approach ranked battles or breed competitive Pokémon yourself!
