Shiny Rates in Every Main Series Game

Some of the greatest joys when playing a Pokémon game occur when a Shiny Pokémon is either found or stumbled upon. Over the years, GameFreak has played around with ways to make getting Shiny Pokémon easier than just hoping to get lucky with random encounters, but have different mechanics and rates. This page aims to help trainers understand what their true chances or "odds" are for various hunts and in various games.

Below you'll find summaries of some of the most common shiny hunting methods sorted by game. Note that some of the hunts are more complicated than space allows, so please be sure to check out the individual pages for more detailed information on each hunt. Also linked are some additional pages and guides for shiny hunting and the math behind them.

Good luck, trainers!
