Calculate the Chance of Catching a Pokémon in Legends: Z-A
Show Instructions & More Information
This tool does all of the math to calculate your likelihood of catching a Pokémon in Legends: Z-A, and will include the eventual DLC. You can select any Pokémon available in the game and any Poké Ball. Fill out the rest of the information and it'll do all of the hard work for you.
Note that this calculator automatically updates and changes fields based on known limitations. For example, you cannot inflict a status condition when a Pokémon is stunned. If a field disappears, that is normal.
Please note that this calculator only works for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, no other Pokémon are included. You can take a look at our other catch calculators here. If you find any errors or have any issues, feel free to join our Discord server to let us know!
Notes on Mechanics
Catch mechanics are very similar to Scarlet and Violet, though the games now just use floating-point math instead of integer math. Additionally, the game adds in a few mechanics to make it easier to catch a Pokémon. Critical captures are entirely disabled!
If you want to read more about the mechanics, take a look at our guide on Legends: Z-A capture mechanics. Or be sure to check out Anubis' thread on X (special thanks to Anubis for all of her work to make this possible!).
If you have any questions or comments, please reach out on our Discord server!
If the Pokémon is stunned (on a "last chance" throw) move the bar to the far left (0)!
Check this box if the Pokémon has a "?" above its head, is attacking you, is fleeing, is stunned, or is statused. Make sure to check this if you are in battle!
A Pokémon cannot normally be lower than 100% HP and unaware of you because running away to cancel agression heals it to full. However, there is a quirk where it is possible to have an unaware Pokémon at less than full HP if the player character is KO'd or if a day/night transition occurs during the battle and removes it from the field.
If your throw triggers the back strike sound and animation, this bonus is applied. You cannot trigger a back strike when in battle with the Pokémon or when it is stunned, but you can if it has a "?" above its head or is entirely unaware of you.
This is a reflection of your current story progress. Higher level Pokémon are harder to catch the lower rank you are!
The Blue Canari Plush can be purchased in game to boost your catch rate. Choose the corresponding you have..
Shiny Pokémon have a 3x base bonus to catch rate!
Mark if you are inside a distortion. Keep in mind that Catching Power only works in Mega Dimension Distortions.
Enter the star level of the donut you will use to enter the distortion. Using a donut with a star level lower than your distortion comes with a penalty.
Select a Poké Ball to start calculating catch rate!
