Grinding for Hyper Berries in the Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC is one of the most frustrating parts of creating optimal donuts. Fortunately, members of the community have figured out a reliable way of farming these items efficiently. Here's a guide that details the requirements and procedures to make sure you get all of the berries you need.
Requirements
Before we begin, you'll need to progress to a certain point in the DLC, have a good Pokémon for destroying floating Poké Balls, and know how to make and reload backup saves.
So you'll need:
- Flying-capable Pokémon
- Recommended Pokémon: Metagross, Dragonite, Dragalge, Gardevoir (anything that can fly)
- Must know a fast move (e.g. Extreme Speed or anything that comes out quick)
- Progression Requirement:
- Completion of Main Missions 8 and 9, which unlocks 7- and 8-berry donut creation
- Note: While 7-berry donuts can give the bonuses we need, you may have to reroll more frequently
- How to make a backup save:
- To create: Visit any Pokémon Center and heal your Pokémon
- To restore: On the title screen, press [D-pad Up] + [X] + [B]
- You'll need to know how to do this to re-create donuts with good powers and to restart distortions if you need more time
With that in mind, here's how the method works.
Creating the Ideal Donut
First, go create a backup save before you do anything else. The powers you will get are fairly random, so resetting will be required. GameFreak made the game autosave after every donut creation, which is why we'll need to reset and reload the backup save.
Our target donut should have Item Power: Berries (Lv. 3) and at least level 2 of Big Haul Power. To get the powers we need, we have to focus on high amounts of Sour Flavor and as little the other flavors as possible.
Here are a few recipes known to give the required powers are:
- 8x Hyper Kasib Berry - though this one can give Big Haul (Lv. 3)
- 5x Hyper Kasib Berries + 3x Hyper Shuca Berries
- 3x Hyper Kasib Berries + 1x Hyper Colbur Berry + 1x Hyper Babiri Berry + 2x Roseli Berries
- You're welcome to swap berry ratios between Kasib and Roseli, and can reduce one of these two berries for 4-star recipes
- You can replace any berry with a Kasib

This 7-berry recipe will give you the powers that we need to go through dimensions. You can play with the ratios between Kasib and Roseli if you want. You can also replace any berry with Kasib.
This is the type of result you are looking for. At least Item Power: Berries (Lv. 3) and Big Haul Power (Lv. 2).Feel free to play around with other berry combinations, but your results may vary.
Finding the Right Hyperspace Distortion
After creating the donut, you're going to want to find a large hyperspace wild zone. We're going to be hunting down the floating Poké Balls, and large distortions will certainly spawn in more.
The community also reports that you should focus more on the size of these zones and not the star level. You will find a significant number of floating Poké Balls in 4-star large zones.
Some players recommend going after medium-sized zones because the floating Poké Balls are closer together and it's easier to find the Golden floating Poké Ball when the tasks are complete. This might be faster per zone entered, but your "yield per donut" is something to consider when the donut powers aren't guaranteed and require rerolling. We recommend starting with medium-sized to get a feel and then focus on large zones for longer grinding sessions.
Before you enter the distortion, make sure you put down a backup save at the Pokemon Center if you need to reload to try again in case you get unlucky.
Inside the Hyperspace Distortion
Now, inside the distortion, you're going to want to prioritize the floating Poké Balls, especially the large ones. With Big Haul and Item Power: Berries, these should be rewarding large amounts of Hyper Berries of all types.
You should also consider doing the zone's tasks to spawn in the Golden floating Poké Ball which give even more rewards. Here are some tips:
- Prioritize destroying floating Poké Balls
- Stick to the rooftops to improve your scouting
- Complete the tasks to spawn in the golden floating Poké Ball
- Remember you can fast travel to the entry portal to move around the zone efficiently
- Don't forget to check Pokémon spawns for shinies (this is just a bonus)
