The next upcoming season for Pokémon GO is called Memories in Motion and has a few interesting changes to the game for some quality-of-life updates. The season is set to run from March 3rd to June 2nd, 2026. The update also features some heavy hitters from the Galar Region. Here's everything you need to know about the season.

Orbeetle Debut + Gigantamax Pikachu

The slow-trickle of the Galar dex continues with Orbeetle and it's family. Additionally, we have confirmation that Gigantamax Pikachu (the first return of "fat Pikachu" as the fans affectionately called it in the Sword and Shield days) will also make it's debut.

Schedule Changes

One of the biggest changes that this season is bringing is a shift in pacing. Events are moving to a far more predictable schedule, with weekend events specifically shifting to Saturadays. The reason is consistency, though it does mean Saturday workers will have to make adjustments if they want to play.

To keep things interesting during the week, every day now has a dedicated theme:

  • Double-Time Sundays: Make the most of your items with Lure Modules and Incense lasting twice as long each Sunday.
  • Fast-Track Mondays: Get 2x GO Points for both monthly and event GO Passes
  • Max Monday: Power spots refresh more frequently, additionally Power Spots will be active on Mondays, and Max Battles will rotate to feature different Dynamax Pokémon.
  • Showcase Tuesday: PokéStop Showcases will be active on Tuesdays, featuring up to 20 different categories.
  • Wednesday Raid Hour: Raid Bosses for five-star raids and Mega Raids will rotate at the start of Wednesday each week. Rounds hours will continue to feature the five-star Raid Boss between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • Go Battle Thursday: Up to 4x Stardust from win rewards (not including end-of-set rewards). Maximum number of sets will increase from five to 10.
  • Friendship Friday: Up to two Special Trades on Friday, an increased chance of Lucky Trade, up to -10% Stardust cost for trades, two guaranteed Candy XL from trades.

Evolved Pokémon Shiny Upgrade

As part of this event, any evolved Pokémon in the wild can be Shiny. In addition, there's an increased Shiny chance from Raid battles and Raids compared to the wild during the whole event. Additionally, GO Rocket encounters have increased shiny rates. Do note that this only applies to Pokémon that have already had their Shiny debut.

Special Research for Volcanion

The Special Research "Pressure Rising" will be available to all Trainers for free. If you did not get the Volcanion form the 2025 Pokémon GO Fest, then you will get an encounter! Those that already have Volcanion will just get Volcanion Candy instead.

Research Breakthroughs

The Pokémon you'll get from Research Breakthroughs during the season are:

  • Gyarados
  • Honedge
  • Dhelmise
  • Sinistea
  • Duraludon
  • Dreepy

Seasonal Bonuses

The following bonuses will be enabled all Season long:

  • One guaranteed XL Candy when trading in person (Level 31 and above)
  • One additional Candy when trading in person
  • Increased XP for a seven-day PokéStop spin streak
  • Increased XP and Stardust for a seven-day Pokémon catch streak

Summary and Final Thoughts

This season is looking pretty packed. In particular, I'm quite happy that they're having themed days so that we can remember what bonuses we'll be able to get at any given time. I can see why they're putting weekend events on Saturdays only, though it does make things tricky for trainers that have to work on Saturdays.

Either way, it'll be interesting to see how this Season turns out! We'll see you out there trainers!
