Armored Mewtwo Will Return September 5-6 in Pokémon GO

Announced during a surprise teaser at the Pokémon World Champions finale, Armored Mewtwo is finally making its long-awaited return to Pokémon GO. This is the first time in over six years that players have had a chance to catch it.
As part of the Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale, Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids on Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6. Please note that Shiny Armored Mewtwo will not be available.
Armored Mewtwo was a 2019 release in conjunction with the Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution film. This version of Mewtwo has different stats than its base form, boasting lower Attack and higher Defense. Additionally, Armored Mewtwo cannot Mega Evolve.
This is a great return for the game, especially considering how many new players have joined since 2019. This also means that it will not cost an arm and a leg to get an Armored Mewtwo via trades (some members in our own community have traded extremely rare Shiny Pokémon to get one! Other people have also sold them on online markets for crazy prices!).
As a heads up, however, Armored Mewtwo isn't that great of a Pokémon in PvE (raids and gym battles), except in PvP where it finds some niche usage in various cups. Since it can't be shiny, there's really no need to do more than one or two raids, but of course play how you want!
