Pokémon GO New Level Caps (up to level 80!)

Starting Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the rebalanced level system in Pokémon GO will be in place. The game will increase the level cap from level 50 all the way up to level 80. Here are some new details shared by the developers.
The level cap increases from level 50 to level 80! Rewards will also now include increased storage capacity for Pokémon, Items, Gifts and Postcards (as well as new Avatar items).
linkNew Total XP Requirements
When the update goes live, all XP earned so far will be applied to the re-balanced leveling curve and no one will lose levels. Here are the new requirements for some milestones:
- Level 10: 48,000 total XP
- Level 20: 258,000 total XP
- Level 30: 1,083,000 total XP
- Level 40: 3,953,000 total XP
- Level 50: 12,753,000 total XP
- Level 60: 34,353,000 total XP
- Level 70: 85,853,000 total XP
- Level 80: 203,353,000 total XP
Note, however that the Level-Up Research tasks that were originally between levels 41 to 50 are removed and new tasks will be added for levels 71 to 80.
linkDaily Adventure Egg
Additionally, the game will have a new Daily Adventure Egg that will automatically be placed in a special Incubator, but you must reach Level 15 first. This Egg does not count towards current Egg storage and will require exploring a distance of 1 km. We're not sure what will be available in this egg, but it should make hatching tasks quite a bit easier!
linkLevel 70+ Increased Lucky Friend Chance
Another reward for hitting level 70 is an increased chance to become Lucky Friends with trainers you've already become Best Friends with. So, be sure to grind up to level 70 to get that bonus!

Here are the new Avatar rewards you get at various levels:
- Level 25: Poké Ball Cap
- Level 30: Poké Ball Shoes
- Level 35: Poké Ball Jacket
- Level 40: Great Ball Cap
- Level 45: Great Ball Shoes
- Level 50: Great Ball Jacket
- Level 55: Ultra Ball Cap
- Level 60: Ultra Ball Shoes
- Level 65: Ultra Ball Jacket
- Level 71: Level 71 Shoes
- Level 73: Level 73 Shades
- Level 75: Level 75 Pants
- Level 77: Level 77 Pose
- Level 79: Level 79 Hairstyle (Short) and Level 79 Hairstyle (Long)
- Level 80: Level 80 Jacket
