Walmart and Pokémon GO Teaming Up with Gift Cards and New Stops
Niantic announced today that Pokémon GO and Walmart are teaming up. The new partnership will introduce more PokéStops and Gyms at Walmart stores across the United States. Additionally, Niantic is launching physical Pokémon GO Gift Cards available exclusively (at least for now) at Walmart.
Walmart parking lots have been a staple for the Pokémon GO community for years, with loads of dense spawns. I know I've gotten a few shinies at Walmart over the years. Now, when you go get groceries or check out home goods or Pokémon Cards, you can interact with Stops and Gyms. We're not sure how many more stops and gyms will be added at each location. At least now you can send your friends Walmart-branded gifts!
Speaking of gifts, starting October 20th, you can purchase physical Gift Cards for PokéCoins at Walmart. These gift cards are a worse deal than going through the online shop, but I'm sure grandparents will appreciate being able to contribute to their grandkids' accounts. Here are the price points and coins you'll get:
- $10 – 1,250 PokéCoins
- $25 – 3,300 PokéCoins
- $50 – 7,000 PokéCoins
- $100 – 15,000 PokéCoins
Again, not a bad deal, since it's more coins than just through the in-game store. Maybe you can use Walmart gift cards to buy PokéCoin gift cards?
