Thanks to the dataminers in the community, we know now how much candy it will take to power up an Eternatus in Pokémon GO. As a fair warning, the power up costs are frankly unbelievable, and we're not sure if the developers have actually thought this through.

We previously reported that the GO Fest Finale will feature Eternatus in Max Battles. One of the bonuses is increased candy drops for defeating these raids, however we don't know how much they will reward.

As reported on the Silph Road Subreddit, the Pokemod group found the costs. Here's a quick summary (full table is at the bottom of this post): You'll need 7,896 Eternatus Candy to power one up from level 20 to level 40 and an additional 4,028 Eternatus Candy XL to finish powering it up to level 50.

These power-up costs are insane. Additionally, costs to power up the Max Moves of Eternatus add an additional 8,000 Eternatus Candy and 960 Eternatus Candy XL to the final costs. That means to fully power up your Eternatus (of which you'll only be able to get one for now) will require 15,896 regular candy and 4,988 XL candy. Again, absolute insanity.

They must really want us to do those Max Raids if we want to use it. We must also not forget that with only one Eternatus being available right now, your chances at getting a good one are pretty slim. Have fun powering up your 10/10/10 Eternatus! I seriously hope that these candy costs are reevaluated.
